During the Corona pandemic, science, for example through virologist Christian Drosten, became much more in the focus of citizens. Many people were grateful for the insights and expert answers to the most pressing pandemic questions, but at the same time it could also be observed that part of society wanted to get simple answers and then turned to fake news. This phenomenon can also be found in the topics of "climate protection" and "electromobility". In this episode, we invited Science Minister Theresia Bauer (BW) and Prof. Maximilian Fichtner to discuss the tension between science and opinion. We discuss what good science communication looks like, what we can all do to combat fake news, and exactly how science works. Since we have a politician and a professor in the virtual studio, we naturally also explore the question of how independent science can be.
