They still exist - the opponents of the e-car and the myths surrounding batteries. It is true that the number of skeptics of electromobility is dwindling year by year. Nevertheless, many people are still asking themselves: Is the e-car really more sustainable than an internal combustion car?
The real question should be: Why is the science around electromobility, energy systems and battery materials often dismissed as "opinion" - rather than veritable research? Because: research is in agreement! For years!
Prof. Dr. Maximilian Fichtner goes through the arguments one by one:
(1) The e-car is safe. (2) The battery materials are predominantly mined sustainably. (3) Battery recycling works. (4) There is enough electricity for all e-cars. (5) E-cars will be built sustainably in Germany. (6) The e-car is cleaner than a combustion car. (7) Batteries do not contain rare earths. (8) The e-car does not destroy jobs.
