For everyday use, the safety of batteries is essential. No one wants to expose themselves to risk by using a wide variety of battery-powered devices at home or on the road. Therefore, extensive tests and analyses of battery behavior under all conceivable conditions, even in extreme situations, are carried out before market launch. Prof. Seifert himself conducts such safety tests at KIT and reports in this episode on how short circuits can occur, whether e-cars burn more frequently than combustion engines, and which battery types will be even safer in the future.
