New Deputy Director CELEST

Prof. Dr. Arnulf Latz has been elected Deputy Director CELEST. Since 2012 he is Professor in Ulm, head of department for Computational Electrochemistry at  the German Aerospace Center (DLR)  and Principal Investigator at Helmholtz Institute Ulm (HIU), where he also is member of the board of directors.  His research includes modeling and simulation of batteries (lithium-ion, solid-state and post-lithium e.g. LiS, MgS, sodium), fuel cells and electrolyzers as well as thermochemical storage. This background will allow him to represent the 3 research fields of CELEST in their entirety.

„As Deputy Director of CELEST, I can apply both my perspective from basic research and my industrial experience from my time at Fraunhofer. I have been practicing the combination of basic research and transfer to industrial application for 22 years and I think this is also a very important component of CELEST, which I would like to strengthen further“, so Prof. Latz.

Prof. Latz is also member of the road mapping team in Battery 2030+ and involved in four EU-projects focusing on battery and fuel cell research.
