CELEST at Hannover Messe 2024

For the second year in a row, the Center for Electrochemical Energy Storage Ulm & Karlsruhe (CELEST) participated at Hannover Messe as co-exhibitor at the Baden-Württemberg Pavilion in the Energy Solutions Area from 22 to 26 April 2024. Besides the three research fields „Lithium-ion batteries“, „Post-lithium batteries“ and „Alternative electrochemical storage and conversion devices“, other relevant CELEST topics such as „Innovation & Transfer“, „Qualification & Training“ and „Communication“ were introduced and focused on.

At the CELEST booth, exhibits such as new battery materials from the Cluster of Excellence POLiS, different cell types including round and pouch cells as well as a fuel cell stack from our partners Karlsruhe Insitute of Technology (KIT), Ulm University and Zentrum für Sonnenenergie- und Wasserstoff-Forschung (ZSW) were shown.

Besides interesting individual conversations, we welcomed several "Energy Tours" with students from different universities in THE LÄND and also introduced CELEST to members of the Cluster Electric Mobility South-West c/o e-mobil BW GmbH. One of the highlights was the visit of Ministerial Director and Deputy Minister at the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Science, Research and Arts Dr. Hans J. Reiter at our booth to find out about the current activities of CELEST and get an update on ongoing cooperations with various partners in THE LÄND. Also Prime Minister of Malakka, Yab Datuk Ser Utama Ab Rauf Bin Yusoh, also Chairman of Invest Melaka Malaysia, visited the CELEST booth for an interesting discussion on perspectives of e-mobility.

Additionally, a very successful event organized by CELEST took place in the Convention Center at Hannover Messe. Topical presentations by high-ranking speakers from science and industry from all over Germany, as well as a panel discussion on efficient value chains using the example of battery recycling, provided insights into current trends in the field of batteries. We are pleased that the Automotive Agentur Niedersachsen was our guest this year with the federally funded project TraWeBa – Transformationshub Wertschöpfungskette Batterie. The 60+ participants gained exciting insights into the interactive and very interesting approach - Business Simulation Game Value Chain Battery Recycling. The cross-cutting topic of qualification and securing skilled workers in the battery sector rounds off the agenda.

Hannover Messe is one of the world's largest trade shows dedicated to industrial development. It is organized by Deutsche Messe AG and held at the Hannover Exhibition Grounds.
